Over the years, Taylor Swift has built a reputation — pun very much intended — for her penchant for Easter eggs, so of course, her every move is scrutinized every time she walks out the door. While Swift fans are used to decoding even the smallest hints, her latest look is giving Swifties mixed signals.
On September 21, 2024, Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid, who had just flown in from Milan, stepped out for a girls’ night out in New York City. The duo were spotted leaving dinner at The Corner Store in Lower Manhattan donning their best fall ‘fits.
For the occasion, Swift opted for a tartan mini skirt, a cropped black sweater, snakeskin-heeled boots, and a gold necklace with a message. (You can see pictures here.)
Now, here’s where the decoding gets interesting. Some fans focused on Swift’s footwear of choice — particularly the snakeskin of it all since speculation about Reputation (Taylor’s Version) has been at an all-time high for a while.
“Taylor wearing snakeskin boots with a necklace that says TS and 12‼️” a fan account noted of the singer’s latest look. “SNAKE BOOTS??? 12 NECKLACE???? CURLY HAIR??? TAYLOR ALISON SWIFT,” another one commented.
Others directly pointed out how the look was sending Swifties in multiple directions. “Taylor stepping out in curls, snakeskin boots, and 12 necklace just to make sure nobody knows what she’s doing next,” someone noted.
A fan account also perfectly collated the three major reactions, which are: “Taylor is human and a TS necklace upside down isn’t something to over-analyze, she’s just a girl,” “A mirrored TS is a 12 which means she is hinting at TS12 cause she’s Taylor and she would absolutely easter-egg something this way,” and “SNAKESKIN BOOTS! REP TV NEXT.”
Now, was it a teaser for TS12? Was it a teaser for Reputation? Was it just an outfit? Was it all of the above? With Taylor Swift, we truly never know, so we’d better keep our eyes peeled for her next hint.
