Elon Musk has a theory on who is at fault for the horrific plane crash that took place near the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Wednesday night.
The crash, one of the worst tragedies in recent U.S. history, saw an American Airlines passenger flight collide with a military Black Hawk helicopter, killing 67 people and leaving zero survivors.
Musk has since shared his thoughts on who is to blame for the incident, accusing the Biden Administration, the FAA, and various other government agencies of endangering public safety through “insane hiring practices.”
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO added that President Donald Trump, who recently returned to office, would fix things by restoring “competent personnel.”
“Under the Biden administration, the FAA and other government agencies had absolutely insane hiring practices that endangered the public. President @realDonaldTrump and his team are working rapidly to restore competent personnel to all positions involving your safety,” Musk wrote on X, the social media platform he owns.
Both Musk and Trump have attacked the FAA over its hiring practices, particularly its use of DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) standards in selecting staff.
In a follow-up post, Musk agreed with a user who claimed the FAA was keen on “Hiring people based on skin color, gender, and gender preference” as opposed to “merit-based practices,” lashing out at the administration’s competency.
Elon Musk And Donald Trump Share The Same Thoughts
Meanwhile, Trump has taken to his own social media platform, Truth Social, with claims that the Black Hawk was flying too high and was above the 200-foot limit. He also accused former Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg of destroying the FAA with diversity hires.
A formal investigation into the crash has begun, with the American public waiting for answers. Until then, we can expect speculation to continue, with theories to keep floating even after the revelation of the findings.
The airplane, Flight AA5342, was carrying 60 passengers and was manned by four crew members when it crashed into the icy Potomac River. Three soldiers were on the helicopter.
