Barstool Sports president and founder Dave Portnoy has placed a mammoth six-figure bet on tonight’s NFL Kickoff Game between the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs.
Dave Portnoy is no stranger to placing massive bets on single games. Just last week, he won $122,500 after placing a $50,000 bet on Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever to upset the Connecticut Sun (Indiana won 84–80).
Three hours before kickoff for the Ravens-Chiefs game, Portnoy revealed on X/Twitter that he placed a $300,000 bet on Baltimore and the +130 moneyline. If he hits, Portnoy will get a shiny $690,000 payout:
Patrick Mahomes and the defending champions are a consensus three-point favorite over reigning MVP Lamar Jackson and his Ravens. Mahomes is 4-1 in his career against Baltimore, including a 17-10 victory in last year’s AFC Championship Game.
Betting against the Chiefs is always risky business, especially when they’re playing at Arrowhead Stadium. But Dave Portnoy has faith in the Ravens, who finished with the best regular season record a year ago at 13-4.
Mahomes and Jackson first met in Week 14 of the 2018 season, with the Chiefs squeaking out a 27-24 victory in overtime. The Chiefs got past Baltimore in Weeks 3 of the 2019 and 2020 seasons, before Jackson finally outlasted Mahomes with a 36-35 victory in Week 2 of the 2021 season.
Will Dave Portnoy’s big bet pay off, or will Jackson and the Ravens leave Arrowhead Stadium with another frustrating loss to the defending champions? Stay tuned.
Dave Portnoy Won Big Betting On Chiefs To Win SB 59
Portnoy bet $500,000 on Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to defeat the 49ers in Super Bowl 58 in February. Sure enough, the league’s best player and Kansas City finished the job and netted an ice payout for Portnoy.
But Portnoy is going in a different direction this time and going against the Chiefs. We’ll see if Jackson and the Ravens can secure another mega six-figure payout for Portnoy tonight.
