Small children and cell phones can be a recipe for hilarious mishaps.
Country star Blake Shelton found that out firsthand when his oldest stepson, Zuma, FaceTimed Vince Gill by accident. Of course, Gill found the brief interaction funny. However, Shelton still finds the accidental video call embarrassing.
Recently, Shelton sat down with CMT. During the conversation, he recalled the time Zuma called one of the most prolific and beloved stars in country music by accident. See him tell the hilarious story in the video below.
Blake Shelton Recalls the “Humiliating” Accidental FaceTime with Vince Gill
“One day he accidently called Vince on my phone. He FaceTimed him on accident,” Blake Shelton recalled. “He thought he was calling his nanny Vince and he called Vince Gill,” he explained. “I remember I was walking through the house and I heard Vince Gill’s voice kind of laughing. And I looked and I saw Zuma throw the phone down. He was like, ‘I don’t know. There was some man that answered Vince’s phone.’ I looked and he had called Vince Gill who was in Amsterdam with the Eagles,” Shelton recalled.
Shelton texted his fellow country star to explain what happened. Gill called him back and said, “Man, I was laughing. I thought you must have been drunk or something,” Shelton recalled, laughing about the mishap.
Now, though, Zuma wants to FaceTime Gill on purpose. “Years later, Zuma is the biggest Vince Gill fan in the world. He’s like ‘Can we FaceTime him again?’ and I’m like, ‘No. Never again, actually. That was humiliating for me,’” Shelton said.
Shelton on Being a Stepdad
When Blake Shelton married Gwen Stefani he became a husband and a stepdad. When they tied the knot he gained three sons—Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo. Today, Kingston is 18, Zuma is 16, and Apollo is 10.
Before his eldest stepson’s birthday, he spoke to Entertainment Tonight about watching his stepsons grow over the past decade. “If I could have a repeat of these past 10 years, that would be perfect,” he said. “Next month, we’ve got an 18-year-old which it blows my mind that already happened. In a couple of years, we’ll have another 18-year-old,” he added. “We still have Apollo, so we have another almost 10 years before we can kick him out, so it should be a lot of fun,” he added jokingly.
