Gabriel Gagne was once a prospect of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and he could now be facing jail time regarding violent allegations coming from his ex-girlfriend.

Former hockey prospect Gabriel Gagne, who attended prospect camps with both the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators, faces shocking allegations from an ex-girlfriend.

Gagne is on trial for a number of serious offenses, including hiring a hitman to murder his ex-girlfriend, assault, assault with a deadly weapon, and making death threats. All of these allegations come from his former partner.

Gabriel Gagne’s ex-girlfriend testifies that he had repeated patterns of aggression and displayed controlling behavior, with various incidents where his actions crossed well beyond acceptable boundaries. She makes it known, under oath, that over time, the abusive behavior of Gagne escalated to the extent that she often felt threatened about her safety.

Testimony given in court, translated from French, described Gagne’s behavior as quite disturbing. The former National Hockey League prospect, who played for both the Toronto Marlies and Newfoundland Growlers last season, is not only accused of these violent acts but also of substance abuse, being one to regularly take drugs and alcohol.

Apart from the present charges, Gabriel Gagne has a rather unending history of previous charges laid against him. He was sentenced to six months in prison in 2023 for harassment charges from another ex-partner, with three months served in 2024 when he pleaded guilty to luring a minor under 16 years. In total, he has been incarcerated for nine months because of these former incidents.

It cannot be said at this time what would be the outcome of the charges as the trial continues to progress. Gabriel Gagne could be put in jail for quite a long period of time if found guilty on all counts of these heinous crimes. The heinousness of the accusations plus his past offenses means a severe penalty would likely be awaiting him.
